Yum! I made kale chips tonight – they are pretty trendy and sometimes not worth the effort. I bought one bunch of kale for $1.20 at the market today and removed the stems when I got home – after washing and spinning in my salad spinner – i baked them up – in about 20 […]
Recipes
I love recipes. I have a cookbook addiction and I probably get 6-7 cooking magazines every month. I love food, and I love great recipes. Here you’ll find some great options to put a quick meal on the table, or a great recipe for Sunday dinner or entertaining. I live in a fairly rural area, and our grocery stores don’t promote gourmand tastes. Simple ingredients, great and easy techniques, lead to fabulous meals. Give them a try and please feel free to leave a comment!
Leftover Roast Beef Barley Soup
I’m a big fan of repurposing leftovers. In fact this christmas I made a Prime Rib and we made 4 meals from the leftovers, including Christmas dinner. It made the $60 price tag feel not so painful. The night after Christmas we had leftovers. I cut some of the meat off the bones and made […]

They have been nicknamed “Cub Poops” in my house, because upon seeing them cooling on a rack, my 12yo promptly blurted out, “Hey those look like bear cub poops.” Boys have poop on the brain 24-7 – gross. I love these because they start with a box […]
Wild Rice Stuffing
I just had the most interesting conversation with my Mom. We were talking about Thanksgiving dinner – and our Wild Rice Stuffing/Dressing recipe. I had been under the impression that it was a Northern Minnesota thing – but she said actually my Grandma started it – so it hits even closer to home! My grandma […]
Chicken Green Chile Corn Chowder
I’m a big fan of soups in the winter. Soups that I can make in the crockpot are even better. This is a pretty flexible recipe, use what you have. I used frozen green chiles, but you could absolutely use canned. This is a really good way to use up leftover rotisserie chicken as well […]
Beer Braised Pork Roast with Fennel Seeds
It’s that time of year again – fall and winter mean slow and low roasting in a warm oven – with the byproduct being a warm kitchen and a smell that will bring the whole family running. This roast is so amazing, it could easily grace the table for holidays or company! I made up […]
