Okay – not Gyros in the strictest sense, but the premise is still there. I can buy fairly decent Naan bread here – its not NYC Naan, but it’s still pretty good. I am always looking for yummy things to put on the Naan bread that the whole family will eat.
We had a Grilled Chicken marinated in Yogurt, Lemon, Garlic, Rosemary, salt & Pepper along with veggie fixings and a cucumber sauce. Pretty tasty. I served quinoa and brown rice on the side – that was good!
Grilled Lemon Yogurt Chicken Gyros
Ingredients
- 4 large chicken breasts
- Marinade:
- 1 1/2 Cups Greek Yogurt
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 2 Sprigs Rosemary
- 5 Cloves Garlic minced
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- Cucumber Sauce:
- 3/4 cup of peeled finely diced cucumber
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup plain Greek-style yogurt
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper
- Gryos - Pile this all on
- Warmed Naan
- Sliced Grilled Chicken
- Lettuce
- Tomato Wedges
- Cucumber Sauce
Instructions

Mix all of the marinade ingredients together in a zip bag and pile in the chicken breasts and smush them around well. Set in fridge to marinade for at least 30 minutes, 2-3 hrs is better.

Combine all of the Cucumber Sauce ingredients in a small bowl and cover tightly and slide back into the refrigerator.

Grill the chicken until done on medium, 180 deg internal temperature - slice into manageable pieces.

Pile chicken on a warm piece of Naan, add the veggies and sauce & enjoy.
