This is an easy “throw it in the crockpot frozen” meal that I make when I need something i can throw together fast in the morning for dinner that night.
I like to use my home-canned tomatoes, but you can use store-bought – just use a 15oz can of crushed or petite diced tomatoes in place of the pint of home-canned tomatoes. My favorite peppers for this recipe are red peppers – but just use what you have on hand.
Enjoy!
Easy Crockpot Sausage & Peppers
Easy italian sausage and peppers meal I serve on toasted steak rolls with melted cheese
Ingredients
- 4 ea Italian Sausages Link type – mild or spicy, whatever your preference
- 1 ea Bell Pepper Sliced
- 1/2 lg Onion Sliced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 pint Crushed or diced tomatoes Canned or Store Bought (15oz can)
- 1 Tbsp Oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 ea Steak Rolls Or rolls of your choice
- 4 slices Mozzarella Cheese fresh is amazing on this
Instructions
-
You can make this recipe even if your sausages are frozen
-
Throw the peppers, onions, tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano in the crock pot and mix up
-
Add in the sausages frozen or thawed – nestle them down in the pepper mixture
-
Cover and cook on low for approx 6 hours. If you have an older crockpot that cooks slower – I'd plan 6-7 hours if the sausages are frozen.
-
Serve on the toasted rolls with sauce spooned over the top – melt your cheese on top under the broiler and enjoy!
